Prof Arthur Mynett is Emeritus Professor of Water Science & Engineering at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and Delft University of Technology (TUDelft). He received his MSc degree in Civil Engineering from TUDelft (1976) and ScD degree in Hydrodynamics & Coastal Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1980). He worked at Delft Hydraulics (1980-2010) and IHE Delft (1985-2015). Upon retirement (2015) he has been serving as academic advisor to the Netherlands government and the China Europe Water Platform on urban flood risk management. Prof Mynett received honorary professorships at the Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research (2003), the Chinese Academy of Science (2005), Sichuan University (2011) and the Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute (2015). He is a lifetime member of IAHR (International Association of Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research) where he served on Council for over a decade and was elected as Vice President (2013-2017). In addition to IAHR, Prof Mynett has been actively affiliated with IWA, IAHS, ASCE-EWRI and IACRR, achieving synergies amongst the various international water associations and stimulating young professionals networks (YPN).
