Mr David Wickens is the 2018/19 President of CIWEM. He has an engineering degree from Manchester University and before taking up a post with Severn Trent Water, had been researching vortex aeration as a novel form of sewage treatment.

His career at Severn Trent covered many disciplines, but ultimately he was Head of Water Quality and Environment for the company. The department’s focus was to ensure compliance with the requirements of both the Drinking Water Inspectorate for safe drinking water and the Environment Agency, for the protection of the environment.

Currently David is a member of the CIWEM Trustee Board and serves as a Director of CIWEM Services Ltd., the commercial arm of CIWEM, where he is the Chairman of the Board.
