Prof Xiao-yan Li is currently Professor in Environmental Engineering of The University of Hong Kong. Prof Li has been an ISI top 1% highly cited author in the environmental field since 2009 and received an award of Top Cited Author 2007-2011 from Water Research. He received First-Class Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award from the Ministry of Education in 2012 and Second-Class State Natural Science Award of China in 2014. He has published more than 180 SCI journal papers with about 7800 citations and an H-index of 44. He is an expert in solid-liquid separation, membrane filtration and nanotechnology for advanced water and wastewater treatment and resource recovery from wastewater. He has proposed new theories and developed models for particle flocculation in water, nutrient flux from sediment, membrane fouling in membrane filtration and membrane bioreactors, aerobic granulation for biological wastewater treatment, and electrochemical processes for pollutant degradation and material recovery.
